Instituut voor de Opleiding van Leraren (Institute for Senior Teachers’ Training) – IOL
The IOL is Suriname’s only trainings institute for secondary school teachers. The IOL degrees, MO-A and MO-B, are comparable to Bachelors and pre-Masters degrees. MO-B degrees for languages (Dutch, English, Spanish) are the highest degrees in language studies to be obtained in Suriname. The Institute has seventeen departments and approximately 1800 students. In 2012, the IOL celebrates its 40th anniversary and the ACWWS 13th International Conference will be part of its anniversary program. The IOL buildings are located at the University Complex.

Schrijversgroep ’77 (Suriname Writers’ Group/S’77)
Schrijversgroep ’77 is the largest, oldest, and easily the most active writers association in Suriname. S’77 contributes markedly to the development of Surinamese literature, makes a strong effort on behalf of the intellectual and social interests of its members, and supports and maintains a growing international literary network. Since 1997, the group has organized five international festivals, the last held from November 1-5 2010 with participants from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Netherlands, Belgium, and South Africa. Other Schrijversgroep ’77 activities include monthly performances, a weekly radio talk show, and weekly newsletters. For more info see www.schrijversgroep77.org
